In this webinar, Professor Horton will explore the surprisingly powerful use of Large Language Models (LLMs) for role-playing and creating rich social simulations. The presentation will delve into how LLMs can create computational models of human behavior and explore potential business implications. These include simulating the effects of company decisions and creating models of customer behavior ("agentifying" customers) using historical data to explore trade-offs.
Read more about Professor Horton's research in his working paper, Large Language Models as Simulated Economic Agents: What Can We Learn from Homo Silucus, published in April 2023.
Dr. John J. Horton is an Associate Professor of Information Technologies at the MIT Sloan School of Management. After completing his PhD and prior to joining NYU Stern School of Business in 2013, he served for two years as the staff economist for oDesk, an online labor market.
Horton received a BS in mathematics from the United States Military Academy at West Point and a Ph.D. in public policy from Harvard University.
