Healthcare IQ: Sensing and Responding to Change

Healthcare IQ drew on highly liquid data assets to deliver information solutions and to sense and seize new business opportunities.
VIGNETTE

A description of a firm’s approach to an IT management issue, written according to a prescribed template

Abstract

Beginning in 1990, privately held information solutions provider Healthcare IQ competed in the data analytics industry, helping hospitals to manage and make sense of their data. Throughout the 2010s, Healthcare IQ evolved its technical resources dramatically, which enabled the company to pivot during a pandemic to fulfill novel user needs and to launch a new service line supporting multiple consulting firms and their hundreds of hospital clients. This vignette describes how Healthcare IQ’s data assets helped the company exploit its abilities to sense and seize business opportunities and transform organizational structures and resources accordingly. It also illustrates how Healthcare IQ grew the value creation potential of its data assets over time.
