Becoming Future Ready: Latest Insights
Stephanie Woerner
Future Ready companies outperform their peers on both revenue growth and net profit margin by more than 20%. But getting to Future Ready requires doing things differently. And wherever your enterprise is on its journey to transformation, it will soon be accelerating. In this session, Stephanie will draw on her recently co-authored and published book, Future Ready: The Four Pathways to Capturing Digital Value, which is based on more than five years of MIT CISR research, to describe: 1) what it takes to be a Future Ready enterprise; 2) the four pathways to transformation; and 3) the four explosions enterprises have to manage. She will include recent insights from survey data to address questions such as “What are best practices on each pathway?” and ”What are the leadership imperatives in a digital transformation?”

Becoming Future Ready with Digital Innovation: Three Learning Imperatives
Nils Fonstad
Increasingly, the “steps” that companies take to become Future Ready are digital innovation initiatives. Consequently, companies must ensure that the scarce resources they have—most notably, talent—are allocated to those initiatives with the greatest strategic impact. In this session, Nils will describe three learning imperatives that companies are pursuing to avoid wasting resources and achieve strategic objectives more effectively and efficiently when pursuing digital innovation. Nils will also interview Hatice Yildirim, Digital Transformation Program Manager at Koç Holding, about how she is scaling FireAId, an AI pilot to predict the riskiest locations and the best possible strategy to mitigate fire hazards (FireAId was recently featured at the 2023 World Economic Forum).

For more on "scaling at scale," please see the MIT CISR December 2022 briefing.

Guiding Decentralized Decision-Making for Future Ready Organizations
Nick van der Meulen
In recent years, organizations have increasingly relied on decentralized decision making by cross-functional teams to rapidly sense and respond to changes in their environment. To succeed with this approach, organizations don't need less leadership—they need better leadership. In this session we'll examine leadership practices that help organizations deal with the potential downsides of decentralization.

5:30 PM Leveraging Future Ready Capabilities: Realizing Value from Customer Domains
Stephanie Woerner
For decades, companies have thought of themselves as operating in industries such as banking, retail, shipping, automotive, and energy. But most customers have (often cross-industry) needs and problems that must be solved—for example, business customers want to manage their energy consumption, and consumers want to get an education, buy a house, or manage their daily lives. We call these different customer problem areas domains. In this session, Stephanie will present early results from the most recent MIT CISR survey, looking at what companies that are top performers in implementing a domain mindset do. Then we will share experiences.
